CEAA | Centro de Estudos Arnaldo Araújo Architectural Studies research group Axis: Architecture, Territory, Landscape
Arnaldo Araújo Research Centre (CEAA) is a R&D unit based at Escola Superior Artística do Porto which develops research in the area of Art Studies, specifically in the territories of Theory, Criticism and History.
Originally set up as part of ESAP’s internal structure, in 2007 CEAA became a fully recognized research unit, funded by FCT (Portuguese Government Foundation for Science and Technology, uRD 4041).
Currently it is organized into three research groups and one common research line. Research groups: (1) Architectural Studies; (2) Film Studies Art; (3) Critical Studies Research line: Common Place
Based on an understanding of theory, criticism, history and practice as differentiated yet interrelated knowledge fields, the Arquitectural Studies group has been developing both fundamental and applied, research in the field of Architecture, understood here in a broad sense.
This conference is organized in framework of one of its current main axes of research:
Architecture, Territory, Landscape axis is focused on physical legacies and their multiple implications, with emphasis on the Portuguese case and international comparative studies. Here we can find projects in the field of architectural, urban and landscape history and heritage, but also the application of research results and knowledge to support concrete proposals for intervention.
